Birchwood School believe that everyone has the right to live in a safe environment. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure this right is adhered to. We believe in opening eyes, hearts, and minds. In this context this means encouraging tolerance and acceptance of everyone. Helping children and young people to learn about risk and to be able to embrace opportunities with confidence and realism.

Safeguarding arrangements at Birchwood School are underpinned by three key principles:

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility: all staff should play their full part in keeping children
Safety: We will aim to protecting children using national, and local child protection procedures;
Reporting: That all staff have a clear understanding regarding abuse and neglect in all forms; including how to identify, respond and report.
