The creative curriculum is important as it contributes to wellbeing and social emotional and cultural development.  It teaches pupils to make good judgements and to celebrate multiple perspectives.  It allows the opportunity to experience creative forms of problem solving, and that problems can have more than one solution.

Music should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. Pupils should develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and appreciate different types of music.

Art, craft and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. It should allow pupils to be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design.
